Here are a few simple but stirring things that I’ve been thinking about, wrestling with and clinging to since the beginning of 2009 (I’ll add more as they come)….
“You’re only as healthy as your secrets.”
“God is more concerned about WHO you are than WHAT you do.”
“More than seeking God’s hands…we must first and foremost, seek His face.”
“The are only two tragedies in life: one is not getting one wants and the other is getting it.” (Oscar Wilde)
“The life which is unexamined is not worth living.” (Plato)
“Man can live about forty days without food, about three days without water, about eight minutes without air, but only for one second without hope.”
“The temptation to quit will be greatest just before you are about to succeed.” (Chinese Proverb)
“Be not afraid to go slowly; Be only afraid of standing still.” (Japanese Proverb)
“Great leaders create great problems. If you’re not willing to create problems; you’re not willing to lead. Leaders create problems by changing expectations.” (Erwin McManus)
“The art of being wise is the art of knowing what to overlook.” (William James – 19th century philosopher)
“Jesus would rather go to hell for you, than go to heaven without you.” (Max Lucado)
“Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” (Habakkuk 3:17-18)
“The LORD your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” (Zephaniah 3:17)

Humility is a paradox. The moment you think you’ve finally found it, you’ve lost it. There has yet to be written a book intitled, “Humility and How I Achieved It.” And yet, God expects (and rewards) an attitude of servant-like humility in His followers.
Never get so busy doing the work of the kingdom that you forget who the King is.
A faith that hasn’t been tested can’t be trusted.
– Adrian Rogers
People who are crucified with Christ have three distinct marks:
1. they are facing only one direction,
2. they can never turn back, and
3. they no longer have plans of their own.
–A.W. Tozer
Live as though Christ died yesterday, rose from the grave today, and
is coming back tomorrow.
–Theodore Epp
How else but through a broken heart may Lord Christ enter in?
–Oscar Wilde
Is prayer your steering wheel or your spare tire?
–Corrie Ten Boom
“It is a poor sermon that gives no offense; that neither makes the hearer displeased with himself nor with the preacher” ~George whitefield
Do not have your concert first, and then tune your instrument afterwards. Begin the day with the Word of God and prayer, and get first of all into
harmony with Him.” ~Hudson Taylor
“The shortest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between your knees and the floor” ~Charles Stanley
“Out of one hundred men, one will read the Bible, the other ninety-nine will read the Christian.” ~ D. L. Moody
“It is vain to talk of the interest of the community, without understanding what is the interest of the individual”

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed people can change the world. Indeed. It is the only thing that ever has.” –Margaret Mead
“It is amazing how much people can get done if they do not worry about who gets the credit.” –Sandra Swinney
Missions is not the “ministry of choice” for a few hyperactive Christians in the church. Missions is the purpose of the church

*taps foot*
Does Pastor Sam ever read his comments and notice that old friends who are trying to get his attention on Twitter are failing miserably??
Here’s a quote for you: “Send me a postcard, drop me a line stating point of view.”
Actually, I’m reading Richard Stearns’ “The Hole in Our Gospel” right now, so I’m full of juicy quotes. Let me know if you want some.
If you don’t let me know, I won’t give them.
